Welcome
Every year our team works together to design, build and program a robot to compete in a challenge sponsored by FIRST, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. After we spend about 6 weeks designing, protyping and building our robot, we travel throughout the Pacific Northwest to compete in the regional events against the other teams. During the entire process, students learn new things about engineering, science, programming and much more. In 2006 we won the Chairman's Award at the Pacific Northwest Regional; the most prestigious award available. In 2009, the TRC competed at the Key Arena, with 63 other regional teams and also at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GA in April.
So what exactly is FIRST?
Accomplished inventor Dean Kamen founded FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) in 1989 to inspire an appreciation of science and technology in young people. Based in Manchester, NH., FIRST designs accessible, innovative programs to build self-confidence, knowledge and life skills while motivating young people to pursue opportunities in science, technology and engineering. With the support of some of the world’s most well-known companies, the not-for-profit organization hosts the FIRST Robotics Competition and FIRST Tech Challenge for high-school students, the FIRST LEGO® League for children 9-14 years old, and the Junior FIRST LEGO® League for 6-9 year olds. As an added bonus for High School Students, there are over $9 Million in Scholoraships available for program participants. Are you ready to start a team of your own? Or would you like more informaiton about FIRST and its programs? Just click the FIRST logo below! And be sure to contact us if you have any questions, we would be happy to help!
